Happy your kids are back in school? Although you might have more you time these days, both you and your kids are at risk for getting sick. Here are my tips for keeping kids and moms healthy for back to school season….
Summer is over, unofficially. Although we’re still a couple months away from busting out the comfy cozy blankies, it’s time for kids to go back to school.
This time of year for many moms feels like those late Sunday afternoons when you were back in high school, dreading Monday mornings and 7:30 a.m. homeroom.
You might be several years removed from school. But managing hectic car pools, after-school activities, and managing your own work and getting errands done is stressful.
Moreover, your kids might love school, but they’re at risk for being exposed to new germs.
That’s why the back to school season can wreak havoc on both moms and kids.
But I’ve got some tips for keeping your kids and you healthy….
Strengthening your immune system this time of year doesn’t only help prevent you and your kids from getting sick this time of year, it also helps boost immunity during the flu season that’s just around the corner.
Starting off each morning drinking water right away and then 30 minutes later, having 16 oz. of Green Drink is a good first step to taking care of your immune system.

Keeping Kids Healthy For Back to School Season With Smart Snacks
Remember, September is right around the corner from the cold/flu season. Remember last year how nasty the flu season was? Well, one thing that may improve your chances of not catching the flu is eating (and drinking) a low-sugar diet.
Sorry to sound like a broken record but that’s why my Green Drink is really a smart choice to give your kids. An 8-oz serving of it contains only 3 grams of sugar. Compare that to the 24 grams of sugar in apple juice. Sugar, whether directly or indirectly, contributes to a weakened immune system.

Managing Mommy Stress
With all your energy and focus dedicated towards your kids, it’s important that you, mommy dearest, devote time to revitalizing yourself.
You might not have the luxury of daily mannie/peddies or other spa treatments. But there are simple techniques you can do to manage your stress.
Hopefully your kids don’t wake up at an ungodly hour before the crack of dawn. But no matter what time they wake up, try to wake up 10 minutes earlier than you normally do and meditate.
If it’s difficult for you to meditate on your own, there’s tons of apps, YouTube videos and guided meditation CDs. You’ll be amazed at what just 10 minutes a day of meditation can do for you. It helps you keep your center for the rest of the day, no matter how hectic your day may be.
Also, try and devote some extra time in the morning or after the kids go to bed for a quick yoga routine. Instead of plopping down on the couch and watching your favorite show, first do 10 minutes of sun salutations.
If you can get to a yoga class a couple days a week, that will really help you manage your stress.
And if you have the budget try to get a massage once a month. If you don’t have a lot of discretionary income, massage schools offer great deals.
Daily meditation and exercise, even if it’s just going for a walk is vital to managing stress. Besides the obvious health and mental benefits, it helps break the never-ending loop of juggling a career and taking care of the kids, running errands, and speeding off to appointments and play dates.
